He is the director and screenwriter of the medium-length documentary
“Entre Rios,” a reference in the debate on the history of rivers in the city
of São Paulo, with over 3 million online views.
He is a partner at Meridiano Filmes, a production company specialized in socio-environmental content, and the founder of the Interdependence project, which aims to communicate and educate a new water paradigm.
Graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Audiovisual from Centro Universitário Senac-SP in 2009, Caio Ferraz has been working in the audiovisual market as a director, assistant director, producer, screenwriter, researcher, and editor.
In 2008, as a member of the Coletivo Santa Madeira, he produced the short film "Pescaria de Merda" (Fishing Up Shit), which won the Revelation Award at the 20th São Paulo International Short Film Festival.
In 2009, he directed the medium-length documentary "Entre Rios" (Between Rivers), which tells the history of the city of São Paulo through its rivers and streams. A reference in the debate on the Brazilian urbanization process, the video has over 3 million online views.
In 2010, he was the director of photography for the short film "O Plantador de Quiabos" (The Okra Planter), which won awards at 17 festivals and was acquired by the channels Canal Brasil, TV Brasil, and the Portuguese network RTP.
In 2011, during his residency in Turin, Italy, he produced and directed a series of videos about the privatization process of water and sewage services in Italy and worldwide for the institution Engineers Without Borders of Turin.
In 2012 and 2013, in partnership with the production company F Filmes, he was the director of photography for the music video "Na Garrafa" by the band Trupe Chá de Boldo, produced the music video "Freud Sits Here" by the band Letuce, and directed the music video "Te Desejo Mas Te Refuto" by Tatá Aeroplano. During this same period, he worked as an editor for the first season of the series ELAS by TCM and as an assistant editor for the first and second seasons of the segment Jovens Inventores on the program Caldeirão do Huck, produced by Maria Farinha Filmes.
In 2014, he co-directed the short film "Walkin’Bass" with Luiz Romero and initiated the crowdfunding campaign for the project Volume Vivo.
Between 2015 and 2016, Caio produced and directed the independent web series "Volume Vivo." The audiovisual research project aimed to investigate the real causes and possible solutions to the water crisis that affected the city of São Paulo from 2014 to 2016. Three episodes were produced: "A negação da crise" (17’), "A água de dentro" (30’), and "De onde vem a água?" (22’). During this same period, he worked as a researcher and assistant director on the feature film "A Água e a Metrópole" and as a director on the film "Juréia, desafios da conservação" for the production company Guariba Filmes.
In 2017, he was the assistant director for the 13-episode series "Brasil: 500 anos de economia," directed by Hermano Penna for the channel CineBrasilTV.
In 2018, when Brazil hosted the 8th World Water Forum, he directed the film "Dois Fóruns, Uma Água" (27’). This documentary shows the contradictions of the Forum and the struggles of social movements accusing it of lobbying for the privatization of water worldwide and also follows the changes in the Legal Framework for Sanitation shortly after the event.
In 2019, he co-directed the documentary "Por trás da Cortina Verde" (29’) with Paulo Plá, which presents the harsh reality faced by rural communities in the Alto Vale do Jequitinhonha region - Northeast Minas Gerais - Brazil, in the face of socio-environmental degradation caused by the monoculture of eucalyptus since the 1970s. The film was selected for the official selection of the Latin American Competition at the 9th Ecofalante Environmental Film Festival.
During this time, he has been producing with Meridiano Filmes a series of videos with cultural and socio-environmental themes for clients such as C de Cultura, Ashoka, IPESA, FIA, among others.
